Linux shenanigans
Woohoo! Not being a complete Linux techhead (although much kudos to those of you that are) I have managed to download, compile, link and install a bunch of libraries and modules on a remote server. Via SSH no less.
And yes, there were fuckups. And yes, I sussed what was wrong and how to fix it. And yes, I’m feeling pleased with myself.
Now, I know this may not be a big deal for some of you (damned smart arses! ;-)) but it’s quite a feat for me, only ever having had access to a local machine before. And I’m a 4GL programmer anyway, so it’s not exactly like compilation and object linking is something I do very often…
At least I have some experience of this now, having just been happy with whatever defaults a Linux installation chucks at me. Not that I’m going to call myself a geek, but at least my girlthing has her gallery up and running now (and a nice consequence of which, is that I have one too!) :-)
