Trackbacks and Pingbacks and Blogs, oh my!
I don’t usually consider myself a complete retard, but probably the single point of failure for my brain to comprehend this topic is where the hell does one actually use a pingback/trackback URI?
Does one use it as the href attribute of an anchor element? Is there a form field one is supposed to fill? Am I supposed to go to the target web site and link back to my comment? (Although this last one seems to be the whole point of trackback/pingback, so I don’t have to.)
None of the apparent “easy to understand” explanations seem to explain anything other than why they’re used (that bit’s easy to understand — hell, I even understand what XML-RPC is and how it works) — but not one seems to document how to do it.
*gasp*
And now I think I’ve strained an em somewhere…
Update: I’ve posted to the WordPress support forum about this. Perhaps some kind soul can help out…
