Ruby symbols
Does anyone have any experience of Ruby? If so, and you know what the hell symbols are (and how they relate to the language as a whole), you couldn’t either drop a few hints or point me in the direction of somewhere where I can find out more, could you?
Apparently, they’re called “atoms” elsewhere, and the process is called “interning” but none of the however many languages I know use either of these terms, so I can’t think what an analogy might be.
