Steve Jobs has got me by the danglies

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

I’ve been wanting a Mac for about a year, ever since OS X Jaguar came out, and I saw what a boon it was to web developers. Seeing people in the office just getting on with stuff, not having to fuck around with configuring the machine just to get the old day-to-day done, it looked like paradise (at least from a workaday perspective).

And guess what?

I entered a magazine competition (I can’t remember doing it exactly, but I do these sort of things now and then) and I’ve won a lovely Apple Mac mini (and accessories), and it’s being delivered today!

I’m not sure what actually comprises “accessories”, but whatever it is, I’ll love it and be thankful for it, although for the quoted prize value of “over £500″ I don’t expect there to be a 20″ flat display in there. :^)

And the timing couldn’t be better, after totally scuppering my PoS Sharp laptop (don’t buy one of this, folks!) over the weekend.

I would still have preferred a Powerbook though. ;-) Ungrateful? Moi? Not a frickin’ chance!

The Dukes of Hazzard film…

…is being promoted heavily because it ’stars’ Jessica ‘how do you spell “retard”?’ Simpson as Daisy ‘redneck-totty’ Duke.

I think I’ll be giving it a miss, then.

Familial visitations

Friday, August 19th, 2005

Excellent! My sister’s coming to visit us next week; it’ll be the first time I’ve seen her since the New Year in 2000. 5 and a half years is too long to see one’s family, especially when they only live a couple of hours away by train.

This doesn’t apply to philandering absentee fathers scumbags, however.
